Karthik
Actor-turned-politician Karthik, whose political outfitNaadalum Makkal Katchi (NMK), bit the dust in the last Assembly elections after going alone, observed a day-long ‘flash fast’ at Keelakuyilkudi village near Madurai, demanding the State and Union Governments to name Madurai airport after the late Pasumpon Muthuramalinga Thevar.
Along with party functionaries, Karthik observed a day-long token fast, at a specially erected pandal at Keezkuyulkudi from 10 a.m. in the morning to 6 p.m on Sunday (Feb 20, 2011).
Volunteers of the local wing of the AIADMK, with whom Karthik recently entered into an electoral alliance, also took part in the protest to bolster the actor.
Karthik has also urged the Union government to speed up the process of ‘executing’ those responsible for the colossal ‘Spectrum 2-G scam’, which has been showing our country in ‘bad light’ to the rest of the world.
His other demands were including immediate ‘intervention’ to save the Tamil fishermen from the attack by the Lankan navy.
