Gangai Amaran meets Mahinda Rajapakse, invokes wrath of entire Kollywood
Gangai Amaran meets Rajapakse
If rumours emanating from Kollywood are to be believed, director-producer- prolific Lyricist,Screenplay writer and music director Gangai Amaran(father of director Venkat Prabhu and Prem G) has become the ‘target’ of the entire Tamil film industry after his one-to-one meeting with Lankan President Mahinda Rajapakse, who is widely seen as the ‘villain’ in Tamil Nadu, who had killed lakhs of Tamils in the island nation.
It’s spoken about in hushed tones as he’s the younger brother of ‘Maestro’ Ilayaraja but the regret in those tones is unmistakable. Amaran, who had been to Lanka a few weeks back, reportedly met the high-profile Lankan president who had assured him that he would ‘fund him liberally’(in Crores) to make a film in Tamil which would show the politician(Rajapakse) in good light.Amaran, who had gone there for a music concert, was reportedly taken to the president’s palace with great honour by his bodyguards.
Amaran had been told that the film should be depicting that Rajapakse was the one responsible for the ‘welfare’ of Tamils in Lanka and that he had done nothing wrong in his offensive against the LTTE in 2009.
An unconfirmed report adds that Amaren has assured Rajapakse that he’d try to do his best with the help of his elder son and popular director Venkatprabhu.
