Kamal-Selvaraghavan project to start after Irandam Ulagam

According to sources, Selvaraghavan, after his Dhanush-Andrea starrer Irandam Ulagam by the end of March is likely to start with one Kamal Haasan project in May.

This is what industry insiders tell us,

If everything goes according to plan the Kamal-Selva project will be a welcome treat for Kamal fans. Working with younger directors who understand the pulse of the audiences is an appropriate move headed for a perfect mix. In the last few years, Kamal’s significant hit at the box-office was Gautham Vasudev Menon’s Vettaiyadu Vilayadu. With Selvaraghavan who doesn’t mind taking risks with different genres this project surely has great potential.

The movie is expected to be a commercial venture though and is to be completed within a time of 6 months. Well we still have to wait for an official announcement from them.

For the moment lets hold on and look at Mollywoods association with Kamal .Lately a pleasant surprise came Kamal’s way as the producer of ‘Pazhassi Raja’, Gokulam Gopalan of Gokulam Films at an event recently promised Kamal Haasan that he would produce a malayalam movie with him soon. A while ago Haasan himself expressed that he is very much fond of acting in Malayalam movies, but hasn’t found the right opportunity yet. Bang! And there you have it for you Kamal Sir, an offer on the spot, what more could you ask for.

It should also be noted that Gokulam Gopalan has acquired the Malayalam rights of Manmadhan Ambu which is yielding handsome profits at the box office.

Kamal’s presence is surely all over the world for sure, it is nice to know that the leading actors of Kollywood have repeatedly been favorites amongst other industries too. Well done Kamal!!!

Meenas baby girl name is Nayanika

Actress ‘Kannazhagi’  Meena and her husband Vidyasagar were blessed with a baby girl on January 1st 2011 and now the couple have named their daughter! The auspicious ‘peru idal’ function or naming ceremony held at Meena’s residence at Saidapet, Chennai was a very private affair with only family and close friends attending it.

They have named her as ‘Nayanika’, which means ‘Beautiful eyes that induce magnetism’ or ‘The one with beautiful Eyes’ in Sanskrit.

It may be recalled that when the actress was questioned about when she would name her daughter, she had replied their family would consult their astrologer and name her on an auspicious day.

Meena tied the knot with Vidhyasagar, a software engineer from Bengaluru at a traditional Hindu ceremony that took place at the holy Tirupathi Tirumala temple on July 12, 2009.

Anu Haasan weds Graham Jay

Anu Haasan has made quite a name for herself hosting the show ‘Koffee with Anu’ on Star Vijay TV for the past 3 years. Anu the niece of Kamal Haasan has entered wedlock again with London-based businessman Graham. The wedding ceremony was attended by Kamal Haasan, Shruti Haasan, Akshara Haasan, Gauthami, Suhasini Maniratnam and many others including Graham’s parents who boarded flights from London.

Anu supposedly met her soul mate over the internet and one thing led to another and the couple finally decided to meet each other. Graham later proposed his love to Anu and yes came her reply. Now she says that she really has given this relationship a good thought. It maybe recalled that her marriage earlier with Army man Vikas dint have a happy ending and this is the second time she is tying the knot.

We wish the newly wed couple all the happiness in the future.

Vijay to join 3 Idiots team from February 7th

Earlier we had informed you about Vijay returning to the 3 Rascals camp alongside director Shankar. Now the news has been officially announced and the actor will join the cast from February 7th, 2011.Shankar had decided to go ahead with the shoots filming rest of the members (that included Jeeva and Srikanth) in Ooty.

The music for 3 Rascals is being composed by Harris Jayaraj and the composer has completed one song already. So Shankar’s first task will be filming the lead pair of Ileana and Vijay as soon as shooting kicks off after Vijay hops in.

So it’s Vijay, Srikanth and Jeeva who will finally play the 3 Rascals.

We earlier reported that creative indifferences between Shankar and Suriya made Suriya walking out from the film. Now sources close to Shankar disclosed us that Surya’s demand of remuneration crossing over 18 crores for the film didn’t go well with Shankar was the sole reason why the director decided to drop Suriya from the film.

It is said that Suriya reportedly demanded a fee of Rs.8 crores besides thehalf the share of the Telugu distribution rights of the film. Considering that Shankar and Suriya are both quite marketable in Tollywood , it is estimated that the film’s Telugu distribution rights might reach a minimum of Rs.20 crores.

Shankar, who is never known to give into the demands of his producer or actors, fell back on his original choice Vijay after having met up with the Actor, who was happy to do the film after the success of Kaavalan.

Meanwhile, another Surya is likely to star in an important role in the movie, it is learnt. Shankar has reportedly made some ‘deft’ changes in the screenplay and has ‘inserted’ a role which is likely to be played by director-actor S.J. Suryah!

Srikanth and his wife Vandana were blessed with a baby girl on Friday 28th Jan 2011. The couple are really enjoying the time being together, welcoming the entry of their new family member.

The year has been a wonderful one for Srikanth who is also  building a Malayalam fan base steadily.

Things are also looking good considering his Kolly carrer. The actor is placing all bets on 3 Rascals to make a comeback in Kollywood. He was engaged in Shankar’s 3 Rascals in Ootywhen he received the good news. Soon after being congratulated by the whole crew he rushed to the hospital in Chennai to meet his wife Vandana and the baby.

They also have a 2 year old boy from their marriage in 2007.

Amy Jackson and Prateik Babbar the new lead pair

Shoots for the Hindi version of Vinnai Thaandi Varuvaayaa will officially kick off from April 4, 2011 while the movie will release in theatres by July 2011.

Earlier there was news that the movie was dropped with the lead pair of Amy Jackson and Prateik Babbar deserting their director. Now things have been solved as Amy andPrateik both will be present for the shoots to commence this April.

Gautham Menon has confirmed the news as he spoke to us, “The movie will stick to the original script but the actors will be different. It’s Amy playing Jessy the Malayalee Syrian Christian earlier played by Trisha.AR Rahman has already provided with 3 tracks and they are the original Tamil tunes itself. Any more decisions and necessary changes will be called by Rahman and Javed saab to cater the Hindi audience better.”

AR Rahman is scoring the music again while Javed Akhtarwill handle the lyrics department. IN Entertainment andGautham Menon’s Photon Kathaas are jointly producing this one.

Yuddham Sei the Tamil crime thriller film will be releasing this Feb 4th 2011.The movie has been written and directed by Mysskin himself.

Yuddham Sei has Cheran playing the lead in the form of a CBI officer.Cheran says that the movie is coming with a social message. The movie throws a light on reality as it speaks about the violence all around us. Sadly many of us don’t make an effort to realize whats happening which only adds to the cause.

Mysskin and Cheran early received praises for picking up such a topic and also for the superb onscreen performances.
