STORY:

The script is about a petty-thief (Karthi) who makes a living robbing. Although the trailers of the movie looked promising, the movie has preferred to be a stubborn affair and has come across as a commercial attempt all in all. Rocket Raja or you could call him Pocket Raja falls in love with a rich girl Swetha (Tamannah) even before we took a plunge into our popcorn basket and the stories unfolds from there onwards.

Rathnavel Pandian is the cop played by Karthi for the dual role.

There are many sequences that jump out of no where and have been pushed through even though it doesn’t link well with the other scenes, the locations too have failed as they look out of date adding to the monotony.

As Rocket Raja (Karthi) and his partner in crime Kaatupoochi (Santhanam) join together in loot, the director has tried his best portraying them as a happy go lucky duo and life can’t be merrier when you are a thief. In between all this chaos there is this little girl (Baby Rakshana) who pops up claiming to be Raja’s daughter misinterpreting her father  Rathnavel Pandian as Rocket Raja. As expected Swetha walks away from the glamorous thief’s life.

The rest of the movie is on the line of Bash! Boom! Thud! as Karthi teams with the police officer taking full advantage of the double role he played to sort out the bad guys.

CAST REVIEW:

Karthi has been very loose playing a cop. There is much more he needs to do before just putting on the uniform, we heard he did not miss a chance to observe pick pocketers in real life, we doubt he had the same approach for the cops role.

Tamannah as usual is the spice of the movie, shows plenty of skin in a throwback to 1980s vamps.

Santhanam’s presence in the movie has been the only life saver, the man manages to wring laughter just by appearing on-screen. But sadly he has little time on-screen.

Baby Rakshana is cute and appealing, but the rest of the cast is barely there.

POSITIVE POINTS:

Santhanam and his company of supporting actors need more appreciation for keeping it away from being a dull affair.

NEGATIVE POINTS:

Well, worth critical thought are the screenplay, dialogues and direction which have disappointed our reliability on Siva.

The screenplay seems like an amateurish manipulation keeping in mind the audience acceptance, a weak attempt though. Padikkadhavan and Thillalangadi come to mind immediately.

Music is by Vidyasagar is not worth significant mention , none of the songs managed to tinkle our ear drums.

Editing is by V T Vijayan, maybe we should not blame him as the director seems to have had too much faith on the result of the original version that he has not made any major significant changes to this re-make version but ultimately there were a lot of unnecessary scenes that never connected running for165 minutes.

Item numbers by Jothi Lakshmi and Meghna Naidu were bad too. We expected a lot from this section at least. What misery even the item girls did not give us a great dance.

In a nutshell the flick lacks logic.
