Sengadal(The dead sea) talks about the injustice done by the Sri Lankan government specifically in relation to the Eelam Tamils. The movie was presented to the Censor Board recently who in response demanded cuts in the film’s sensitive dialogues and scenes which reveal the involvement of Sri Lankan and Indian government.
Apparently the movie is going through a rough patch with the Censor Board as it deals with the killing of Indian fisherman by the Sri Lankan Army. Prior to thisSamuthirakani backed off from the film as producer when he came to know that the movie was angled being an anti-LTTE venture. Now, the censor board has cowardly failed to bring forward real issues to the front and all together rejected the movie.
Reportedly it will not be released in Chennai for sure to which Leena Manimegalai, the director of the film has shown obvious disappointed.
According to her the Indian government helped the Ealam genocide for the ethnic-cleansing of the Tamils and the LTTE , and she claims the censor board has double standards, after her choice of subjects has left the members numb of which they don’t approve as yet on the other hand Leena said that when journalists and speakers have right to expression, she must be also  be allowed the same.
Don’t you thing she is right in her own way being a the voice for many through her films over the years, she is surely righteous when it comes to expression. We hope she finds justice soon and her film sees an opening in Chennai too in the upcoming days.
