Chennai will be an even more exciting place to visit in the days to come.
As the Chennai International Film Festival will commence shortly. During December 15 to 23 it will be showcasing about 130 movies from across the globe from 43 nations and .the selection will include 12 Tamils films competing for the Film Festival’s titles in the categories for Best Film, Best Director and Special Jury Awards.
Special thanks from us to The Indo-Cine Appreciation Foundation who will be conducting the film festival in three theaters across Chennai namely The Woodlands Theater, INOX and South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce’s theater.
The 8th Chennai International Film Festival is jointly sponsored by the South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce, the Government of Tamil Nadu in association with the Film Federation of India.
“The Franco-Australian movie ‘Tree,’ which was the closing film at Cannes, will be one of the key attractions this year along with acclaimed Indian films such as ‘Women with a Turban’ and ‘Kurukshetra’ lined up for screening” said Chennai International Film Festival director C.Thangaraj.
He added, “South Pacific countries will dominate this year’s festival with more films. Iran will be the ‘Country in Focus.’ We are starting a new Latin American section and bringing in some of the best movies from the country”
The opening movie to be screened in the Film Festival would be ‘Soul Kitchen’ which is a German flick directed by Fatih Akin.
Suhasini, Mani Ratnam, Sarath Kumar and Radhika Sarath Kumar, Revathi, Gautham Menon, Khushboo, Lissy Priyadharshan, Mohan, Poornima Bhagyaraj, Manobala and Rohini are part of the organizing committee.
Moserbaer has sponsored a ‘Film Buff Award’ for the one who watches maximum number of films at the event and will present it to the winner after the festival which concludes with the Spanish movie Beautiful directed by Alejandro Gonzalez.
Movie buffs will be treated lavishly this year with entries from new countries such as Arizona, Denmark, Poland and Iceland with interesting genres.
We hope the film buffs are listening to the cal. Well we too will be there to give you competition. As we look forward for a great experience at the festival.
