Vijay to team up with director Hari

Ilayathalapathy Vijay is shooting for the final stages of his upcoming film ‘Velayudham’ co-starring Genelia and Hansika. The film, which brings together Vijay and director ‘Jayam’ Raja for the first time, has been produced by Ravichandran of Ascar Films. ‘Velayudham’ might be releasing in August/September and might be followed by Shankar’s ‘Nanban’ which is slated for a Deepavali release.

The question now is with whom would align for his next film: there appears to be quite a few in the reckoning. Some say that Vijay’s next film could be Seeman’s ‘Pagalavan’, for which Seeman reportedly penned the script and dialogues while serving a prison term some time back. Others say that Vijay might join hands with Perarasu for the third time after his successful outing with him in his earlier films such as ‘Tirupachi’ and ‘Sivakasi’.

Another unconfirmed report claims that Vijay might choose Varun, a debutant director, for his action-packed ‘political’ film. Finally, the name that has been doing rounds as the director of Vijay’s next film is none other than Hari, whose ‘Venghai’ starring Dhanush and Tamannaah is hitting the screens today. Hari appears to be having the measure of the audience’s pulse with his successive hit films to his credit.

Prior to ‘Venghai’, Hari made ‘Singam’ starring Suriya which raked in the moolah at the box-office and was as successful as last year’s ‘Vinnai Thaandi Varuvaaya’ and this year’s ‘Ko’. The film’s success reportedly made Hari a top-notch director with fee in the Rs.4 crore market. Even as Hari is said to be planning another film with Suriya in the lead, it is said that he might do a film for Vijay in between.

It now turns out that Vijay met him some time back and asked whether he had any story ‘suitable’ for him. Hari is said to have bided his time for which Vijay agreed. When Hari recently narrated his one-line script to Vijay, the latter was reportedly very happy and had asked the director to go ahead and form the rest of the story!

The latest buzz is that the Bollywood hottie Deepika Padukone might be roped in to play the female lead in the proposed film featuring Vijay, directed by Hari.
