Vadivelu lodges complaint against editor of a film-based website
Comedian Vadivelu has lodged an official complaint with the Chennai police alleging that he is being ‘threatened’ by the editor of a film-based website who is demanding Rs.45 lakhs from him. The editor is ‘blackmailing’ him, Vadivelu has stated in his complaint.
Vadivelu’s manager Shankar visited the city police commissioner Tripathy’s office yesterday and submitted a complaint to the commissioner. In that complaint, it has been mentioned that an editor of a film-based website has been regularly ‘threatening’ Vadivelu over phone. The editor, had been demanding that Vadivelu pay him Rs.45 lakhs for backing away from his commitment to take part in a cultural programme in Malaysia.
The editor further threatened that in case Vadivelu failed to pay the amount, all kinds of mud-slinging on the comedian would be done on the Internet, the complaint said. It also added that the phone calls were become ‘too frequent’ for the comedian’s comfort and sought police intervention in the matter.
The Virugambakkam Police have been asked to register a case and look into the complaint to see what could be done.
