The Thalaivar is back.

It was a carnival of sorts at the Chennai Airport late Wednesday when actor Rajinikanth returned from Singapore after undergoing over a month-long treatment. Hundreds of fans waited eagerly in anticipation of his arrival.

Superstar Rajinikanth and his family flew down to Chennai by Singapore airlines flight at 10:30 pm. Rajini’s wife Latha and daughters Aishwarya Dhanush and Soundarya accompanied the Superstar from Singapore.

Rajinikanth and his family members were picked up by a pick-up bus of the airlines, which carried them about 2 km through the taxi way, inside the airport, to the special VVIP gate (No.6) at Old Airport. As soon as Rajinikanth emerged out from the bus, fans waiting for hours together at the old airport chanted “Thalaiva, Thalaiva”. Rajini thanked the fanfare by raising his hands above his head.

Sporting T-shirts bearing the actor’s images, these fans from across the city, suburban areas and even from neighbouring districts, danced merrily with joy, as bands played various musical hit numbers of the actor. Policemen from the Chennai airport police station and neighbouring police stations were deployed in large numbers to regulate the traffic.

While die-hard fans celebrate the Thalaivar’s return, reports close to Rana team say the Superstar will be back on the sets of Rana in the next two months.
