Rajinis Rana to be launched on 20th April

It’s official now: the muhurat of superstar Rajinikanth’s upcoming film ‘Rana’ which would be directed by K.S. RAvikumar would be held in Chennai on the morning of 20th April (next Wednesday).
The film would have Rajini playing a triple role after a long gap of 29 years. The last time Rajini played three roles in a film was for the Sathya Movies film ‘Moondru Mugam’, which released in 1982. ‘Rana’, however, would be a period film unlike ‘Moondru Mugam’ which was one of the films which catapulted Rajini to his ‘superstar’ status.
Rajini, who has worked in films like ‘Muthu’ and ‘Padaiyappa’ with KS Ravikumar, would be working under the gifted director after a gap of 12 years. Interesting it might sound but the story and screenplay have penned by Rajini himself. Rathnavelu, the ‘Enthiran’ cinematographer, returns to do the job in ‘Rana’ too; so does A.R. Rahman, the music director.
The photo-shoot involving Rajinikanth and Bollywood’s Deepika Padukone was held recently in Chennai. The pooja would be held at the AVM Pillaiyar temple, said to be Rajini’s favourite spot, where the muhurat shot would also be canned. After the pooja is over, the crew would be leaving for abroad along with Rajini and Deepika to shoot a duet song.
The film is likely to feature 7 heroines out of which 3 would be paired opposite the three roles Rajini is set to essay in the film.
