Actor Vijay to join AIADMK Soon
Troubled by a flagging career, actor Vijay, who boasts of a considerable fan following among the youth, is likely to back the AIADMKin the coming assembly election. His father and well-known film director S A Chandrashekar is scheduled to meet party supremo J Jayalalithaa at her Poes Garden residence in Chennai soon to discuss a “political arrangement” for the crucial state election and the possibility of Vijay launching a career from the party platform eventually.
With each passing day, Vijay’s entry into politics is becoming a certainty. A meeting with AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi in New Delhi in April last year had tongues wagging about the actor taking the political plunge. But failed to take a decision regarding politics at that juncture. The actor, however, did not rule out “a decision in future” and had even hinted at it by turning his Vijay Makkal Iyakkam’ (Vijay people’s movement), launched last year in Pudukkottai in Tamil Nadu, into a political force.
Now it looks like the actor may launch his own political outfit soon, and would enter into electoral alliance with AIADMK supremo J. Jayalalithaa to face the State Assembly elections expected to be held in the first quarter of next year.
Vijay’s father S.A. Chandrashekar had spoke to some of the ADMK top officials and even sought a meeting with Jayalalithaa, who returned to Chennai on Sunday after a three-week sojourn at her Kodanadu retreat in the Nilgiris. ”It is true Chandrashekar has sought an appointment with Amma. But the date is yet to be confirmed,” said an AIADMK senior.
The Bending Force towards an Alliance with the AIADMK,
Faced with a series of flops, the actor was hoping ‘Kaavalan’ would boost his sagging career. However there have been rumblings of disagreement between Vijay and Udayanidhi Stalin, over the release of ‘Kaavalan’ and Udayanidhi has been using his political background powers with film distributors to delay the release of the Vijay-Asin starrer to ensure that his own film, ‘Manmadhan Ambu’ (starring Kamal Hassan, Madhavan and Trisha) produced under his Red Giant Movies banner, has a smooth release for December end . With no other option to fight back, now seems VIjay is trying to be seeking the support of the ADMK chief Jayalalitha, the DMK’s arch-rival, to bail him out.
What is interesting and notable was that most of his fans during the recent fans club association meeting insisted that Vijay should make an electoral alliance with AIADMK. But Vijay had himself announced no such decisions have been taken still, did that mean it would be taken soon.We will have to wait and watch
Vijay can be a good brand ambassador for the AIADMK as he has a massive following among the youth in Tamil nadu. Never the less Jayalalitha, who triggered a minor political upheaval with her offer of support to the Congress last month, would be very much interested in roping the star in a bid to convert his large fan base into potential vote-bank.
