Gautham Menon has no worries thanks to his tactful planning

Gautham Menon
Gautham Menon
We speak to Gautham Menon in reference to the comments from our readers on his release Nadunisi Naaygal; he had quite interesting answers to the questions that we took up as an extension to the on going discussion on our site. Here is Gautham Menon exclusively for you kollytalkers.
Hi Gautham after our movie review your fans and readers have responded with mixed reactions? What do you have to say about this was it expected since you have done something that has been a little offbeat ?
I really can’t give you reasons why some people did not like it but I am really humbled by the response at the theatres. All throughout I knew the movie is really going to have a mixed release post release yes in a way it was expected. I apologize to the rest of them for not liking it.

You know , the readers were really expecting something more commercial and romantic maybe like your earlier ventures according to them they have been let down they say.
As I told you already 50 per cent of the audiences maybe did not like my idea, but there is always the other 50 who are connecting to it. As a director I need to challenge my self doing different genres.

Bala to direct a Bollywood film soon

Director_Bala_bollywoodDirector Bala, who is gearing up for the release of his upcoming directorial venture titled ‘Aan Ivan’ starring Vishal and Aarya in the lead, is said to be on a crash-course to learn Hindi soon enough to equip himself to become qualified enough to direct a Hindi film.
The director, who won the national award for ‘best director’ for his film Naan Kadavul some time back, is one of the few directors in Kollywood who write the script and then select the actors instead of doing the vice-versa, as is done by most of the directors.
The soft-spoken Bala, who has just 4 films to his credit in the last 10 years in ‘Sethu’, ‘Nanda’, ‘Pithamagan’ and ‘Naan Kadavul’, is a creator at heart and would go any length to ensure that his final outcome turns out to his entire satisfaction. When he gets what he wants from his actors and actresses, he becomes a prankster on the sets.
“Avan Ivan has shaped up very well with amazing inputs by Aarya and Vishal. Both have equally significant roles in the film. I take my own time as I want to ensure that everything is proper. I am also learning Hindi as fast as I can and once I master that language, I’d surely venture out into Bollywood and start directing films there,” asserts Bala.
Knowing his penchant for perfection, we know he can do whatever he wants!

Suriya to perform at audio-launch of ‘Ezhaam Arivu’

The shooting of ‘Ezhaam Arivu’, which would be the (ideal?) launch-pad of Shruti Haasan as heroine in Tamil films, is said to be progressing at a brisk pace. The film, which has Suriya in the lead opposite Shruti, is being directed by A.R. Murugadoss, who catapulted Suriya to superstardom with his mega-hit ‘Ghaniji’ more than 4 years ago.
The film, which would be the stunning Shruti’s first on-screen appearance in Kollywood, has already triggered excitement and expectations among all her fans and fans of her father, Kamal Haasan. Suriya, who never shies away from experimenting with his looks and roles, is said to be playing a circus performing artiste in the film, for which he had reportedly underwent several rigorous training schedules.
Sources close to Udhayanidhi, producer of ‘Ezhaaam Arivu’, say that the audio-launch of the film is likely to be held toward end-March. Audio major Sony has acquired the audio-rights of the film at a premium price. The producer and director have kept a surprise element at the audio-launch to thrill the audience.
Suriya, who plays a circus artiste in the film, is all set to perform live on stage (some acrobatics and stunts he has performed in the film) for the benefit of his fans on the day of the audio-launch. The actor, who always loves to perform his own stunts, has done the same in ‘Ezhaam Arivu’ too without making use of a ‘dupe’ or a ‘body double’.
With Suriya enjoying quite a good number of fan-following in Andhra, the film would be released in Tamil and Telugu simultaneously.

Vijay at Pollachi

The D-day has arrived; Ilayathalapathy Vijay will be raising his voice out loud in support of theTamil Nadu fishermen who became innocent victims to the atrocities of the Sri Lankan Navy. A multitude of followers will share their sentiments as they will voice out their feelings in a joint effort spearheaded by Ilayathalapathy himself.
Vijay sent a strong message for his fans worldwide when he said, “If anything happens to even one Tamilian in any corner of the world we will rise, 8 crores of us in number for the cause of our brethren.”
The protest meeting will be held today 22nd of February at precisely 4 pm, at the VDP CollegeGrounds in Nagapattinam. Vijay and father SAC will be providing relief by distributing fishing equipment and financial aid to the fishermen who were made victims by the Lankan navy.
Earlier the actor lashed out at the DMK government after he faced turbulent circumstances before releasing his recent flick Kaavalan. He even pledged that with the able support of his fans he will set things right, now that he is aware who the trouble makers are who stalled the release. On Saturday Father SA Chandrasekhar also met AIDMK chief J Jayalalithaa at her Poes Garden residence and her party’s presence will be strong during the protest meets. Earlier Vijaywas accorded a very warm welcome by the local cadres of AIADMK during his visit in Pollachi.

Karthik observes fasting to name Madurai Airport after Muthuramalinga Thevar

Karthik
Actor-turned-politician Karthik, whose political outfitNaadalum Makkal Katchi (NMK), bit the dust in the last Assembly elections after going alone, observed a day-long ‘flash fast’ at Keelakuyilkudi village near Madurai, demanding the State and Union Governments to name Madurai airport after the late Pasumpon Muthuramalinga Thevar.
Along with party functionaries, Karthik observed a day-long token fast, at a specially erected pandal at Keezkuyulkudi from 10 a.m. in the morning to 6 p.m on Sunday (Feb 20, 2011).
Volunteers of the local wing of the AIADMK, with whom Karthik recently entered into an electoral alliance, also took part in the protest to bolster the actor.
Karthik has also urged the Union government to speed up the process of ‘executing’ those responsible for the colossal ‘Spectrum 2-G scam’, which has been showing our country in ‘bad light’ to the rest of the world.
His other demands were including immediate ‘intervention’ to save the Tamil fishermen from the attack by the Lankan navy.

Khushboo condemns Arya,Anushka,Tamannah

Khushboo
Actress-turned-politician Khushboo, who joined the ruling DMK last year, has condemned the trend of actresses leaving the function(s) midway, even before the chief guest (Kalaignar) is still seated on the dais. This is not acceptable at all, she has said.
Khushboo was clearly referring to the recent function held in Chennai by the Govt. of Tamil Nadu to honour actors and actresses with the ‘Kalaimamani’ awards. The awards were given away to actor Arya, actresses Anushka,Tamannah and to many others.

Before the function came to an end, AryaAnushka andTamannah left the auditorium, making the audience murmur among themselves. Khushboo, who was among the audience, has said that it was a ‘condemnable’ culture by the actors and actresses who were only ‘disregarding’ the chief guest Kalaignar.
“It’s part of our culture to leave a particular place only after the elders leave. I felt very bad when the actresses left along with their family members soon after receiving the award. I would like to make one thing clear: the function wasn’t political one; it was the function wherein the government honoured the actors and actresses.
“I appeal to the actors and actresses not to do so in future when Kalaignar is on the dais,” said Khushboo.
