Ajith lifts up 30kg Body Mount for Mankatha

The lead pair in Mankatha

Ajith’s Mankatha revolves around a gambling mafia functioning during the IPL cricket season .The cast and crew of Mankatha(incluiding Ajith, Arjun, Trisha, Anjali, Lakshmi Rai,Amala,Premji Amaren,Vaibhav and many others) are making all efforts to wrap up the movie as soon as possible. Almost 50 % of the movie is already completed with 3 major songs that include Ajith’s intro song shot earlier in Bangkok, another one where Ajith,Premji,Vaibhav and others are dancing to a kuthu song and a lovely duet between Ajith and Trisha both shot in Chennai.

There was a really interesting incident that took place while filming a major stunt sequence.

Reportedly Director Venkat Prabhu came up with the idea of Ajith carrying a 30 kg Body Mount Camera to get the feel of the shots and capture the minutest of details with every walk, turn and jump. While Ajith fans are well aware of the fact that the actor has undergone surgeries and keeps away from the risky business, Thala surprisingly decided to go ahead with Venkat’s suggestion this time. The shot was successfully completed and the rest of the Chennai shoots are expected to be completed this Monday after which the team heads straight to Mumbai.

A R Rahman says I am no Sachin Tendulkar

ARR

We informed you in an earlier post that A R Rahman, who has been nominated for a double Oscar this year too for Danny Boyle’s 127 Hours in the categories for Best Original Score and Best Song If I Rise with Dido. All eyes are set on the man, as India is counting down the days for the mega event.

Hi Rahman Sir, we will win again this time isn’t it, everyone has so much expectations from you after musicians from worldwide are waiting for a chance to collaborate with you.

“All I can say right now is that I have won the Oscars before although this time is a very special moment in life again for obvious reasons it is a bit different from the last , I am in no pressure to win the Oscars again. I definitely would want to hit jackpot with both the categories, it is just that i don’t feel as pressurized as the last year”

Oh thats what happens when winning becomes a habit isn’t it?

Haha. (Mr Rahman laughed laughed it off as if he had already expected us to ask him this question)

Recently you were presented the Crystal Award by the World Economic Forum at Davos recently for doing social and charitable work. We are sure you have more blessings than anyone competing for the race for Oscars.

Yes surely, I feel blessed. Well, I’m no Sachin Tendulkar you know, whenever he takes the field, people expect him to score a century before he loses his wicket. I can only give in my best and I always strive to live up to fans expectations, but it’s not possible to get an Oscar every time, that is all I can say.Everything is with the almighty.I won’t be disheartened if someone more deserving gets this Oscar. In my opinion awards honestly must boost up the emerging talent. Nothing is more satisfying than seeing the industry getting flooded with great talent who make things exciting.

Are the contenders really different from the last time?

Oh! Surely there is some superb work this year too; it is really hard to tell you who will win this one. Things are really looking better with time for sure and I am sure there is more to come.

Thank you sir for your valuable time.

My pleasure again. Thanks

(thereafter,we saw him whistling away a tune and wonder if it is a new track he has been working on.)

Arya begins Vettai

Arya begins Vettai waiting for some fresh new hair

Arya

Avan Ivan that has been in the works for over a year now finally it is coming to an end around the first week of February.Vishal reportedly has undergone some serious grilling as everyone these days is tagging him up with at least a national award for his offbeat efforts.

There is a climax scene in the movie where he had to be in knee length water for almost 6 days amidst a dense forest, the gushing waters had small pieces of wood which pierced his vulnerable legs.

As for Arya, after the shoots end for Avan Ivan supposedly around the 1^st week of February he goes on to act in Vettaiafter a gap of a month during March. Vettai is directed by Lingusamy and starres Arya and Madhavan in lead roles. The shooting of the flick will begin only in March thanks to Arya who has to grow his hair back which he apparently cut short for Avan Ivan. Madhavan too will be back in the meantime to add zing to the movie.

Ajith gifts a big bouquet to Arjun

The Mankatha team

Arjun was the latest addition to the Ajith’s Mankatha camp. Well there was some real action on the sets after Arjun’sarrival and no people we aren’t talking about those ‘action scenes’.

Well it happened so that Arjun had his first day with the Mankatha team and Ajith somehow didn’t have any scenes to shoot that day. But Ajith being the gentleman he is made it a point to be the first one to welcome Arjun with a bouquet of flowers and a warm smile. Arjun was really surprised with Ajith’s act and really felt overwhelmed with his warm reception. The whole team are having a great blast shooting the flick thanks to Ajith and others keeping spirits up as ever.

Venkat Prabhu’s Mankatha already has spotlights on for its illustrious cast includingAjith,Arjun,Trisha,Vaibhav,Lakshmi Rai,Premji Amaren and Anjali contributing to this mega-star offering.
