Court pulls up cops for not submitting proof in Saxena’s case

A Chennai court today pulled up the cops for not submitting ‘requisite amount of evidence’ in the case relating to the arrest of Hansraj Saxena, COO of Sun Pictures. Saxena was arrested a couple of days back by the police based on a complaint filed by a distributor who had accused Saxena of committing ‘fraud’ and intimidating him.Saxena was then remanded to two days of police custody by the Court. The arrest follows the lodging of a complaint with the police by T.S.Selvaraj, a Salem-based distributor in connection with the release and distribution of the film ‘Theeratha Vilaiyattu Pillai’. After his arrest, Saxena was produced in the Saidapet Court yesterday.

Ms. Justice Akila Chandni, who took up the case, asked why the cops hadn’t yet submitted enough proof for arresting Saxena. Saxena’s Counsel informed the Court that his client had been arrested on ‘false grounds’ and gave an undertaking that if the distributor showed any written agreement or any other proof, Saxena would pay up the amount, if any, due to him.

After remanding Saxena to police custody for two days, the Judge instructed the cops not to subject Saxena to any kind of ‘torture’.

No change in script of Rana, assures KS Ravikumar

Director K.S. Ravikumar has assured superstar Rajini’s fans and the media that he won’t be making any change(s) in the script of ‘Rana’, which was launched on 29th April, the day Rajini fell ill and is still recovering at a service apartment in Singapore. “Rajini doesn’t want any changes in the script and as such, there won’t be any change,” said Ravikumar.Rajini is expected to be back in Chennai from Singapore by July and might start shooting for ‘Rana’ from the second fortnight of August or later than that. Speaking to a popular English daily, Ravikumar has said that “The story of ‘Rana’ is that of a king who lived and ruled in the 17th century. The film would have plenty of action, sentiment, romance and comedy. The battle-sequences, scenes to be shot in palace and the King’s court would be loved by the audience. Rajini plays triple roles in the film and one of his roles would take care of the comedy quotient in the film.

“Only Deepika Padukone has been finalized among the five heroines to be cast in the film. No change is likely to be made in the aftermath of the superstar falling ill and recovering. Even Rajini doesn’t want any change in the script. As you are award, it’s Rajini Sir’s story and he is fully aware of the script and his role(s) in the film.

“I’d shoot the sequence after gauging Rajini’s physical health and the amount of ‘risk’ that he can be subjected to. If need be, I might even consult the doctors. The use of a ‘double’ is not ruled out in high-risk sequences. I did finish ‘Padaiyappa’ in a span of five months but can’t do the same with ‘Rana’. The film won’t have any punch dialogues but the dialogues would be razor-sharp,” he concludes.

Bollywood circles are abuzz with rumours that actress Genelia D’Souza is all set to marry actor Ritesh Deshmukh. Rumours romantically linking the two have been doing rounds for the past couple of years but both of them have always remained non-committal and maintained that they were ‘very good friends’.

It is also said that the parents of both Genelia and Ritesh have given their ‘nod’ to the marriage, which would mean that Genelia would soon be completing the projects she has on hand in various languages and then enter the marital bliss with Deshmukh.

Genelia debuted as heroine Shankar’s ‘Boys’ many years back and has since then starred in movies like ‘Sachin’, ‘Santosh Subramaniam’ and ‘Uthama Puthiran’. She plays Vijay’s heroine in the upcoming film ‘Velayudham’. She has a busy and steady market in Telugu and Hindi films as well.

Genelia reportedly fell in love with Ritesh when she starred opposite him a few years back in a Hindi film. Son of Vilasrao Deshmukh, former chief minister of Maharasthra, Ritesh was serious about the affair despite stiff opposition from his parents. A busy-bee in Telugu films, Anushka has admitted that she is now looking to do more and more films in Tamil. She reveals that she is all set to pair up opposite the newly-wed Karthi in his upcoming untitled film which would be directed by Suraaj. Though she hasn’t yet inked the deal, she assures that she is ‘most likely’ to take up the offer.

A self-critic, Anushka candidly admits that she gained in more ways than one in reprising in ‘Vaanam’ the same role she played in the original Telugu film ‘Vedam’. “I know I committed a few errors in the Telugu film and was lucky to have ‘avoided’ those mistakes in the Tamil version of ‘Vaanam’, for which I got good reviews from the press and the audience. I’m quite happy about that,” says Anushka.

Said to be in the Re.1 crore bracket per film, it would take some courage for the producers and directors to sign up Anushka for their Tamil films. As and when she takes up the offer to star opposite Karthi, she would join Tamannaah and Kajal Aggarwal in a mini-league of actresses who have had the pleasure of working opposite both the brothers (Suriya and Karthi) in Tamil films!
