SPB Charan faces arrest based on Sonas complaint

The Pondy Bazaar police have registered a case against film-maker S.P.B. Charan based on a complaint filed against him by Sona who has alleged that he tried to rape her a few days back at a party thrown by director Venkat Prabhu to celebrate the super-success of his latest directorial venture Mankatha.

The case has been registered under the clause ‘atrocity against women’. It is rumoured that after the preliminary round of investigations, Charan would be taken into custody by the Police. After filing the complaint with the police, Sona promptly convened a press conference and cried in front of the scribes as she narrated the sequence of events which reportedly took part after the cocktail party.
Sona has stated in her complaint that Charan came hard at her and disrobed her in front of the many onlookers who were at the party. Charan, son of the legendary playback singer S.P. Balasurbamaniam, had denied the allegations. Police sources say that cases have been filed under as many as 4 sections against Charan.
A police official said that now that a case has been registered, law would take its own course by conducting a preliminary investigation. Meanwhile, Charan didn’t turn up at the police commissioner’s office as expected to present his side of the case.

Vidya Balan admits her love affair

Actress Vidya Balan has finally conceded that she is in love. The actress, who has played Kollywood’s late ‘Silk’ Smitha’s role in her upcoming film ‘The Dirty Picture’, was rumoured to be in love with Siddharth Rai Kapoor (SRK), head of UTV Motion Pictures. The Palakkad-born Vidya had been issuing denial after denial about the rumour but never admitted her relationship.
Some time back, it was said that she married Kapoor and had gone on ‘honeymoon’ grip around the globe. Finally, she has now admitted that she is, indeed, in love with Siddharth Rai Kapoor. Vidya has said that “I like Siddharth and would love to get married to him in future. I love the attire of a bride and would announce my marriage to the whole world and won’t marry secretly!”
The couple was spotted spending cosy time in Goa recently. Those who saw the couple going around in the tourist city of Goa spread rumours that they had married ‘secretly’. The actress, who speaks her mind out on many issues, ha scotched all those rumours.
Vidya has recently purchased her dream house. It is said that she is looking for an auspicious date on which she might start living in the house with beau Siddharth. If everything goes well, the marriage might be held in the first half of next year, it is further reported.
Vidya, though, doesn’t commit herself about marriage as of now!

Kannada film industry imposes 3 year ban on Nikita over Darshan affair

Nikita Darshan affair
Nikita Thukral has said that she is hugely upset by the 3-year ban imposed on her for by Sandalwood, the world of Kannada films. The actress, who debuted in Tamil but is pretty busy with her projects in Kannada films, was accused of being the ‘home-wrecker’ in the case relating to the attack by leading hero Darshan on his wife Vijayalakshmi in Bangalore a few days back.
Darshan, who was arrested by the Police for attacking his wife, complained of breathing trouble while in prison and has been admitted to a hospital where he is under constant monitoring. Vijayalakshmi has since withdrawn her complaint given to the police. The Kannada Film Producers’ Council (KFPC), which met in Bangalore yesterday, decided to impose a 3-year ban on actress Nikita holding her responsible for the turmoil in the family of Darshan.
Commenting about the ban, Nikita said “I have been unnecessarily dragged in to a family feud and maligned. It’s wrong to link me with Darshan. I’ve been in the industry for the past six years and have never been caught in any controversy. I’ve been doing good work in many films and am indebted to the love and affection showered on my by the people of Karnataka.
“Is there any proof to the allegations linking me with Darshan? I’m surprised that Vijayalakshmi has mentioned my name in her complaint to the police. She was on very good terms with me and even discussed with me about my forthcoming projects 3 weeks ago. The Council has erred in imposing the ban on me for no fault of mine. I’m planning to face the ban legally. Why should I fear anyone when I’ve done nothing wrong?” said Nikita

Karthi refuses to act in Malayalam Films

Actor Karthi disappoints his Kerala fans

Karthi is back and the dude (so what if he’s married ) has some good news to share with his Kollywood fans. Earlier when he went for the Telugu release of ‘Naa Peru Shiva’, (the Telugu version of ‘Naan Mahan Alla’) the actor had surprised everyone by announcing that he will be soon doing a movie with director Bhaskar with all the commercial Andhric elements. The news made headlines after he joined Shankar Dayal’s Saguni, soon after his short and sweet honeymoon in the Austrian nation.
While most of his hit blockbuster flicks includingParuthiveeran, Aayirathil Oruvan and Paiyaa have been accepted by the Telugu audience warmly, there is also news that now his Paiyaa is going for a Hindi remake. Recently one of our sources caught up with him and quizzed whether he has any plans to capture Mollywood with his stylish performances the actor gave a flat ‘NO’. He says that even though he will accept a good Malayalamscript the fact that, “I am not fluent with the language doesn’t provide much encouragement to take up any Mollywood project.” Howsoever he has been in touch with many Mollywood directors but all the directors were in talks for there upcoming Tamil movies.

Mankatha Movie Review-Style statement of Ajith

Mankatha Movie Review

MANKATHA MOVIE REVIEW

Cast: Ajith Kumar, Trisha, Arjun, Anjali, Lakshmi Rai, Prem G Amaran, Andrea, Vaibhav Reddy, Kainaat Arora
Direction: Venkat Prabhu
Production: Dhayanidhi Alagiri and Vivek Rathnavel (Cloud Nine Movies)
Music: Yuvan Shankar Raja
Cinematography: Sakthi Saravanan
Ajith has the guts to don a negative role in his landmark golden jubilee film. ‘Thala’ has enacted the role of a police officer trying to loot a huge sum from the underworld dealers. Venkat Prabhu, who has a special liking for the game cricket, has chosen to look into the dirty game played behind the scenes in the name of betting. Instead of going deep into the menace he has opted to concentrate on the war between various players who want to grab the betting money. The movie is all about greediness and ruthless desire of different people with different backgrounds to earn huge money

STORY LINE

The film, set in Mumbai, opens with an effort to kill an accused person (Arvind) by police. The hero makes a flying (literally) entry into the spot before the bullet reaches the target. Vinayak (Ajith Kumar) saves the accused person by killing the police personal.
Vinayak has an affair with Sanjana (Trisha), daughter ofArumugam Chettiar, who is an underworld player involved in betting and smuggling. Sanjana introduces him to her father without knowing the background of her father. Vinayak gets suspended but his act earns him the friendship of Chettiar, as Arvind is Chettiar’s lieutenant.
Chettiyar has to channelize 500 crore betting money during IPL finals. He has planned it perfectly but he has some hurdles in the form of special police squad headed by Arjun to curb betting and redeem the huge money. Vibhav, a member in his gang secretly plans to loot the money with the help of a tainted police officer and a cranky IIT graduate (Prem G Amaran). Vinayak joins them and the operation gets hotter.
The team successfully loots the money. Chettiyar and the police are frantically hunting for the small gang. The team gets split because of the greediness of a couple of team members. Vinayak and Vibhav are desperate to get back the money but Vibhav is caught by the police. Premji escapes with the money with the help of a call girl Sona (Lakshmi Rai). Vinayak wants to get the money at any cost. But he has to face Arjun, who is equally tough guy.
Who gets the money and how is the rest of the story.

SCRIPT REVIEW

The title has a tag line saying “strictly no rules”. Venkat Prabhu’s story and screenplay justify this statement perfectly. The director has presented a story based on betting, gambling, and looting of huge money with some nuances. He has portrayed the greediness behind the whole operation well.
Venkar has made the movie interesting by making his script fast paced. He has filled the script with lot of twists and turns. He has made use of the huge star cast to make the proceedings interesting and attractive. Though the first half drags a bit the second half compensates with its pace. The climax is a real surprise.
On the flip-side, Venkat Prabhu has thrown the sense of justice out of the window in his pursuit to make an interesting film. A filmmaker has the right to represent the versions of the so called baddies but when unabated greediness of the lead players causes the looting of huge money and loss of large number of lives, the director should keep a distance from his characters. Prabhu has presented the whole thing without any sense of justice. You can tell the story of some greedy and ruthless persons but how can you celebrate their triumph?
Moreover, Venkat hasn’t looked at the way huge money is being generated illegally through cricket matches. He has chosen a sensitive issue but failed to present it with its complexities.
Coming to the logical dimensions, the credibility is missing in the looting operation and Ajith’s ‘dream’ plan to get the money is a boring experience. Prem G’s character is a clichéd one. Andrea and Anjali have been wasted.
But the surprising climax and the fast paced second half compensate for these flaws.
