Vijay at Anna Hazares fast venue Ramlila

Taking cue from Superstar Rajinikanth who lent his support to Anna Hazare via an e-mail to his ‘India Against Corruption’ movement, Ilayathapathy Vijay has gone one step ahead and is meeting Anna at Ramlila Grounds in New Delhi to express his support for the cause.

Samantha pairs up opposite Jeeva in Gautham Menons Nithya

Some days back, the newspapers were full of advertisements showing the stills of Vijay’s coming to be directed by ace director Gautham Vasudeva Menon. Under the film’s caption, titled ‘Yohan: Adhyayam Ondru’, it was mentioned that the shooting of the film would be starting only in 2012 i.e. by early next year. Vijay is presently busy with his twin projects in Shankar’s ‘Nanban’ and ‘Jayam’ Raja’s ‘Velayudham’.

In between, Menon is planning to make a short-term film with Jeeva in the lead and has named the film as ‘Nithya’. Actor Jeeva has been having an event-filled past 12 months during when he has had successive hit films. Even his latest film ‘Rowthiram’ opposite the curvaceous Shriya Saran, which depicts him as an action hero, is said to be doing fairly well in all the centres.

He has some plum projects lined up for release in R. Kannan’s ‘Vanthaan Vendraan’ and Shankar’s ‘Nanban’ which also has Vijay and Srikanth besides Tollywood’s Ileana. Mysskin has also signed up Jeeva for his upcoming film ‘Mugamoodi’. Menon’s ‘Nithya’ will see Jeeva pairing up opposite Samantha, who charmed the hears of many youths last year with her brief appearance in ‘Vinnai Thaandi Varuvaaya’ and as Atharva’s heroine in ‘Baana Kathadi’.

Known as ‘close’ to Menon,Samantha had long been awaiting her big break in Tamil films and ‘Nithya’ could just be the one she was looking for. The film is likely to hit the screens towards the year-end or early next year. R.S. Infotainment, which produced Jeeva’s ‘Ko’, would be producing ‘Nithya’ as well. Menon’s favourite Manoj Paramhansa would be the cinematographer while A.R. Rahman would score the music of the film.

AR Rahman, who has reportedly composed composing all the songs of superstar Rajinikanth’s upcoming film ‘Rana’, has committed to score the music of ‘Nithya’, which is likely to go to the floors on 29th August.

Simbus back-stabbing tactics are bad, says Jeeva

Giving further fillip to the misunderstanding that already exists between him and Simbu, actor Jeeva has gone on record saying that Simbu always ‘stabs from the back’ and doesn’t indulge in fighting ‘in front of the face’. For the past few months or so, actors Simbu and Jeeva appear to be not in sync with each other.

It all started with the release of the film ‘Ko’ during the first-half of this year. The film starring Jeeva and debutant Karthika and directed by K.V. Anand went on to become a box-office hit and is still going strong even after completing 100 days. It was Simbu who was originally booked by Anand to play the hero in the film. Simbu developed some ‘misunderstanding’ with Anand over the choice of heroine and exited from the film.

Jeeva then stepped into Simbu’s shoes and the rest is history. In his various interviews to the press, Simbu appears to be reluctant in recognizing the success of ‘Ko’ and accept the fact that he missed out on a ‘superhit’ film probably due to his ‘ego’. Jeeva was recently talking to newsmen when he was asked about his equation with Simbu.

He replied that “Simbu had never been a good friend to me. Healthy competition between actors is welcome in this industry. In Simbu’s case though, he indulges in back-stabbing which won’t pave way for healthy competition at all.”

On the professional front, Jeeva is doing fine with many films by leading directors on his hands. He has films like‘Vanthaan Vendraan’, Mysskin’s ‘Mugamoodi’ and an untitled film by Gautham Menon (tentatively titled ‘Nithya’) which keep him very busy.

Christian body condemns Nayantharas forced conversion

Actress Nayanthara (not Nayantara any more) recently embraced Hinduism after living as a devout Christian ever since her birth. The actress, who underwent the conversion process at Chennai chapter of the Arya Samaj, went on record stating that she was getting converted to Hinduism on her own and that her decision was neither forced nor imposed on her by anybody.

It appears that her decision to become a Hindu hasn’t gone down well with the folks at her native place in Kerala. The locals reportedly met her parents yesterday and expressed their severest condemnation about the actress’ conversion to Hinduism. Born as Diana Mariam Kurian, she got her name ‘Nayantara’ only when she became an actress.

It’s obvious that Nayan’s conversion is to facilitate and hasten up the process of her wedding to Prabhu Deva, who recently got the divorce decree from a Family Court in Chennai from Ramalat alias Latha, his wife of 15 years. After the rituals were performed at the Samaj, Nayanthara was also issued a ‘formal certificate’ to confirm the conversion.

Inian John of a People’s United Front, an affiliated body of a Christian organization, has condemned the actress’ act and said that he felt ‘pained’ by her decision to do so. “She appears to have been forced to do so. A true Christian should never have a liking towards anything, says the Bible. It’s also stated that one shouldn’t try to wrest things or anything from others.

“The actress has embraced Hinduism mainly to marry Prabhudeva thereby spoiling the life of Ramalat, which is condemnable,” he has said.

Kushboo arrested along with MK Stalin

Actress Khushboo surprised many friends within and outside the film industry last year when she aligned herself with the DMK, the erstwhile ruling party. Khushboo’s reality show was quite popular and was on air in Jaya TV for the past many years; as such, it was assumed that she was close to the AIADMK supremo Jayalalitha and that she would join AIADMK as and when she decided to enter politics.

As it turned out, she aligned herself with the DMK and campaigned hard for the party for the Assembly elections held in April but couldn’t prevent the rout of DMK and its allies. Though Khushboo hasn’t been assigned any specific capacity in DMK, she is given ‘royal’ treatment at all the DMK’s events and functions in which she takes part.

When the rest of the party cadres and leaders were stunned into silence after the defeat, she also boldly commented after the election results that the people of Tamil Nadu ‘would live to regret the fact that they voted Amma to power’. She is now actively taking part in various agitations and protests planned by DMK.

This morning, the party held widespread demonstrations all over the State to protest against the ‘vindictive attitude’ of Amma’s regime. Khushboo took part in the demonstration held in North Chennai which was presided over by M.K. Stalin, former deputy chief minister. After we broke the news of Ilayathalapathy Vijay joining hands with the electric Gautham Menon – AR Rahman duo here are the first look posters of the movie exclusively brought to you by Kollytalk. The movie is titled Yohan : Adhyayam Ondru and sources reveal that Ilayathalapathy  has already done with the first  photo shoot session. This dream project will go on floors from June 2012 and has ourKaavalan hero in a ‘Thuppariyum Anand’ avatar.
